Pregnancy
1st trimester care
Emma recommends early pregnancy care for women who have had prior miscarriage or complicated pregnancies. Early pregnancy care may also reduce stress and anxiety at this early stage. Treatment can continue up until your 20-week scan where necessary.
Treatment is also suitable for women experiencing common pregnancy symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and fatigue.
Treatment schedule: 1 treatment per week with additional sessions scheduled when needed.
2nd/3rd trimester care
Emma also treats: Carpal tunnel, back pain, oedema, heartburn, insomnia, anxiety/depression, vulval varicosities, varicose veins, constipation, fatigue, sacro iliac pain, recurrent UTI.
Birth preparation
This program is aimed at preparing you mentally emotionally and physically for the birth of your baby. Anecdotal evidence also indicates that women who have done birth preparation birth closer to their due date and can experience a more manageable and efficient labour.
Treatment addresses any health conditions prior to birth including anxiety, sacro iliac pain, back pain, and helps to ripen the cervix and position the baby correctly for birth. It can be especially useful for woman who want to birth vaginally after a previous caesarean. (VBAC)
Treatment commences at 37 weeks, one treatment a week until birth.
Acupressure for birth
Emma teaches an Acupressure workshop, developed by Acupuncturist and midwife Debra Betts. In the workshop, you will learn effective pain management techniques, and specific point combinations for encouraging an efficient and natural labour. Workshops are designed for partner involvement and are a great opportunity to learn how to be pro active in the birth of your baby. Workshops can be scheduled privately or in a group (discounts available for group bookings).
Labour induction (40+ weeks)
Many women will go into natural spontaneous labour within 1-3 days of an acupuncture induction. Acupuncture can be a useful option for women who would prefer to go into labour naturally, including women opting to birth vaginally after a caesarean.
Treatment schedule: 2 treatments per week and more if required. Most women will go into natural spontaneous labour within 1-3 days of an acupuncture induction.
Post natal Care
Post natal care can help with insufficient lactation (especially with premature babies), fatigue, post natal depression, stress and general recovery including specific dietary and lifestyle recommendations to help you manage this wonderful yet tiring transition.
Treatment schedule: 1 treatment per week and more if required.
